President Kenyatta Takes Early Lead As Poll Results Trickle in

NAIROBI – Results for the presidential election are trickling in from 40,883 polling stations across the country, following the closure of polling centres at 5pm on Tuesday.

Already, the two main candidates are in the lead in results reported from close to 20,000 centres, six hours after voting closed.

From 17051 polling stations across the country, President Uhuru Kenyatta was leading with 3,336,790 votes, his rival Raila Odinga following with 2,699,908 votes.

At the time, there were 6,233,524 votes cast, 1,066 disputed and 149,634 rejected votes.

The voter turnout stood at 31.78 per cent of the 19,611,423 registered voters at press time.
