The Zimbabwean government has reportedly hired a plane for the ailing former President Robert Mugabe and his wife who are on a medical trip to Singapore, Newzimbabwe.com reports.
This is the second time in less than two weeks that President Mnangagwa’s new administration has chartered a plane for the former first family. Grace Mugabe recently told mourners at her mother’s funeral that Mngangagwa had footed all the costs for her to fly back to Zimbabwe in a top of the range aircraft.
The development comes at a time the cash-strapped administration has appealed for public donations as it battles a cholera outbreak which has claimed over 30 lives nationwide.
Zimbabwe has declared a state of emergency in the capital, Harare to raise millions required to deal with a cholera outbreak.
This is not the first time Zimbabwe has been hit with a deadly cholera outbreak.
Mugabe, 95, and his wife, 53, have reportedly been struggling with poor health, regularly travelling to the southeast Asian country for medical attention.
