Zimbabweans in Cape Town have arranged a farewell gig in Green Point which coincides with the burial of Music Superstar, Oliver Mtukudzi.
Tuku, who died on the 23rd of January will be buried at his rural home in Madziva after the family rejected the government’s offer to have him buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.
Coinciding with the burial of Samanyanga, Rebel Movement Events in Conjuction with Ultimate Tshisa Sundays have organised a mini concert which will feature Afro Jazz artists Simba Saini, Authello & the Klan as well as Mitchell Jambo.
“The sole mandate of the event is to group as Zimbabweans first and as Tuku Fans secondly to give him a well deserved send off and our last respect,” one of the event organisers Sam Gumbojena said.
The sound system is sponsored by Rebel Movement Events and venue supplied by Ultimate Tshisa Sundays through their partnership with the Greenpoint Cricket Club.Funeral Direct headed by Frank Mushakavanhu is assisting with the transportation of Artists.
The event will be held today the 27th of January at Green point Cricket Club number 111 Vlei road Green point opposite Cape Town stadium.
