Cape Town Gig to Honour Cyclone Idai Donors

Zimbabwean Musician Simba Saini will Headline the Event.

Zimbabweans living in Cape Town have organised a free musical concert at Green Point Cricket Club to thank those who donated towards cyclone Idai victims.

The event will feature top entertainers Simba Saini and Mike Gwenyambira who have established themselves to become household names among thousands of Zimbabweans living in South Africa’s coastal town.

Saini an excellent performer and vocalist is not new in the music industry having  played drums for top jazz musician Bob Nyabinde and the late Marshal Munhumumwe’s band, The Four Brothers.

In a show of unity and generosity, the Zimbabwean community mobilized tonnes of donations which were sent and distributed to hundreds of poor villagers who were affected by the cyclone in the eastern parts of the country.

The donations included over 800 bags clothes, blankets, shoes, groceries, pampers , sanitary pads and other household items.

One of the organizers of the ”thank you” music event, Frank Mushakavanhu, told AllnetAfrica that the show is meant to thank everyone who contributed towards the cyclone victims.

”We thank the community, the business community and Zimbabwean Consulate which came together and we pray that its the start of greater things to come, after all we are our brothers keepers,” Frank added.

Cyclone Idai has killed over a thousand people in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi while displacing thousands, according to the United Nations.
