The Namibian health ministry has announced a third case of the coronavirus.
The patient is a German national who arrived a few days ago from Zimbabwe.
The Health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula said the 61-year-old man arrived in the country on 13 March from Zimbabwe where he had arrived on 4 March from Amsterdam in the Netherlands, according to New Era.
“The ministry of health-led response is actively following up with all contacts of this person to ensure proper quarantine and monitoring for symptoms,” said Shangula.
There was no immediate confirmation with regard to the airlines used by the patient.
The authorities in Zimbabwe insist the Southern African country is coronavirus free.
“There is no confirmed case yet in Zimbabwe but considering the volume of traffic and other countries in the region and internationally, we need to step up and enhance our preparedness and response to the scourge,” Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently confirmed.
