The world soccer governing-body, has awarded Kwesé Sports the exclusive free-to-air rights to broadcast the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2018 tournament in sub-Saharan Africa.

Kwesé Sports will broadcast the World Cup exclusively for free in over 40 countries, at the same time. This has never happened before in African history.

According to Strive Masiyiwa on his official Facebook page Kwesé Sports will broadcast the finals for free in English, French and Portuguese to over 250 million viewers in Africa.

As the official partner of the NBA in Africa, Kwesé Sports has also been given the exclusive right to broadcast the NBA game in South Africa on 5 August which will be televised around the world.

“For only the second time in history, two teams from the National Basketball Association (NBA) in America will play on African soil”, said Masiyiwa.

The company has also also secured Pay-TV rights (except South Africa) and will broadcast all matches on our other channels on the decoder and also on the Kwesé Mobile App.

Kwese Sports is another brain-child of Zimbabwe’s richest man, Strive Masiyiwa, who owes the bulk of his fortune to his stake in Econet Wireless Group, the telecommunications group he founded and controls. Econet Zimbabwe, a publicly-listed subsidiary company of the group, is the largest mobile phone network in Zimbabwe with over 9 million subscribers.
