South African Artiste Pulls Out of Zim Concert

SOUTH African musician whose stage name is Doctor Malinga has pulled out of a musical concert set for Zimbabwe this Saturday saying attacks on African immigrants in his country had left him “heartbroken.

The event titled, Umcimbi Wabantu Concert is scheduled for Saturday in Zimbabwe’s second city, Bulawayo to celebrate the radio station, Sky Metro’s fourth year in existence.

“… Malinga has requested not to appear at the Umcimbi Wabantu Concert…Malinga has indicated that he is heartbroken and condemns in the strongest terms the violence of Africans by fellow Africans, ” reads a statement by Skyz Metro station manager Godwin Phiri.

Attacks on African immigrants in South Africa by black locals in that county has attracted condemnation in the continent and abroad.

Afrophobic attacks on black immigrants are not new but have permanent feature in one of the world’s most unequal societies.
